From historically preserved Downtown Brevard to nature filled surrounding areas, a visit to Transylvania County, NC presents an opportunity to sample an eclectic blend of attractions. For the outdoor oriented there are numerous National Forest attractions such as the Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education and Sliding Rock, as well as countless waterfalls that are spread through the county. For a taste of the arts, one may take in a show at the Brevard Music Center or Brevard College's Paul Porter Center or attend one of many local festivals showcasing the talents of local musicians and artisans. In addition, historic sites are numerous in and around Brevard, from the Allison Deever House in Pisgah Forest to Carl Sandburg' Flat Rock residence.
